The cast features Lorri Holt as Karen, Makela Spielman as Melinda, Kevin Rolston as Dan, T. Edward Webster as Jasper, Allison Jean White as Windsong, Charles Shaw Robinson as Tom and Chris Yule as Dwight. Opening night is scheduled for Nov. 17. Gilman's newest work, according to press notes, is set at "a backyard barbecue, [which] is the perfect place to tackle the big questions: Is the chicken done? Will the weather hold up? Is it the right time to have a baby?"
The design team features Erik Flatmo (set), Kurt Landisman (lighting), Meg Neville (costumes) and Sara Huddleston (sound).
This production marks the fourth collaboration between playwright Gilman and director Glazer, who have previously teamed at the Magic Theatre on The American in Me, Blue Surge and The Sweetest Swing in Baseball. Gilman's other works include Spinning Into Butter, Boy Gets Girl and the Pulitzer Prize finalist The Glory of Living.
The season at the Magic will continue with Betty Shamieh's Territories (Jan. 12-Feb. 10, 2008), Edna O'Brien's Tir Na Nog ("Land of Youth") (Feb. 23-March 23, 2008), Kevin Fisher's Monkey Room (April 5-May 4, 2008) and Wendy MacLeod's Birnham Woods (May 10-June 8, 2008).
