News Gionfriddo, Shinn, Guirgis, Howe and Loomer Set for March 8 "Working in the Theater" Playwrights Gina Gionfriddo and Christopher Shinn are among the panelists who will appear on the American Theatre Wing's latest installment of "Working in the Theater" on March 8.

The 5 PM episode, entitled "Consolation and Provocation: Playwrights 2009," will feature playwrights Gina Gionfriddo (Becky Shaw) and Christopher Shinn (Hedda Gabler), as well as Stephen Adly Guirgis (Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train) and Tina Howe (Chasing Manet) and Lisa Loomer (Distracted). According to press notes, in the latest installment of "Working in the Theater," "the writers explore a wide range of provocative questions including: Do they write to console or provoke an audience? To what degree do current events, including the election of a new president and the economic freefall, affect their work? Who do they write for? Can playwriting be taught?"

"Working in the Theater" airs on CUNY TV in the Manhattan area. Subsequent broadcasts will take place March 13, 14 and 15 – check local listings. The episode will be available for download on March 11 by visiting AmericanTheatreWing.
