This week's episode introduced new cast member Darren Criss as Blaine, a gay student at Dalton Academy who befriends Kurt (Chris Colfer) when he goes there to spy on their glee club. Kurt has been angered over excessive bullying and stereotyping regarding his own sexuality, but Blaine encourages him to deal with his problems directly in a positive way.
Next week's episode, "The Substitute," will feature Academy Award winner Gwyneth Paltrow in the first of a recurring series of appearances.
