News "Glee" Star Chris Colfer Will Pen a "Guide to Royalty" and a New Young Adult Novel Actor and writer Chris Colfer, who plays Kurt Hummel on the hit TV show "Glee," has signed a new five-book deal with publisher Little, Brown, according to Deadline.com.

Colfer launched a children's fiction franchise in 2012 with "Land Of Stories: The Wishing Spell." Three sequels followed, and the fourth book will be on sale in 2015.

Colfer's contract includes the fifth and final book in the "Land Of Stories" series and a boxed set with new companion volumes "Queen Red Riding Hood's Guide To Royalty" and "The Mother Goose Diaries," which will be released in fall 2015.

Two spin-off picture books inspired by "Land of Stories" are also in the works. "The Curvy Tree" will also be released in fall 2015. Brandon Dorman will illustrate. Another picture book, about the character Trollbella, will be released in 2016.

Deadline also reports that Colfer has a new young adult novel in the works. His first novel, "Struck By Lightning," was adapted into a 2013 feature film that he wrote and starred in.

Colfer is a Golden Globe winner and an Emmy nominee for his performance on "Glee." He has also appeared in "8" and "Hot in Cleveland." "Glee" will return with a two-hour premiere Jan. 9, 2015. Read more about the final season of "Glee" here.
