TVGuide.com reports that Goldblum will replace Chris Noth ("Sex and the City") in the popular crime-solving franchise. USA has ordered 16 episodes for the upcoming eighth season, two of which will feature Noth. As detective Mike Logan, Noth has been with "CI" full-time since 2005, having appeared on the original "Law & Order" from 1988-1995.

Goldblum joins "CI" cast member Vincent D'Onofrio on the detective series created by Dick Wolfe.

Goldblum's extensive screen credits include "Jurassic Park," "The Fly," "The Big Chill," "Independence Day," "Igby Goes Down," "Next Stop Greenwich Village" and "The Life Aquatic." He has appeared in the Broadway productions of The Pillowman, The Mooney Shapiro Songbook, Two Gentleman of Verona and as the mystery guest star in The Play What I Wrote.
