The Grecian Formula, according to press notes, is "playwright Carter Anne McGowan's 'recreation' (and by 'recreation' we mean 'totally made up version') of the backstage comedy behind the first drama, [which] takes us to ancient Greece, home of the first democracy…the first Olympic Games….and the first play, which naturally spawned the first producer, the first snide critic, the first 'idea man' (and therefore the first ghostwriter), and the first award for best play. The Grecian Formula - complete with wily slaves, choral odes, lovers parted, and even an eleven o'clock number – asks the question: How far would you go to win the phallus?"
The creative team includes Janus Stefanowicz (costume designer), Alisa Sickora Kleckner (mask designer), David O. Rogers (sound designer) and Robert Hartman (original music). Show times are Aug. 8 at 5:15 PM, Aug. 12 at 10 PM, Aug. 16 at 7:30 PM, Aug. 17 at noon and Aug. 20 at 9:45 PM.
