Wilson will step into the role of Matron "Mama" Morton June 8 for a four-week engagement. The acclaimed actress will end her limited run July 5.
For her work as Dr. Miranda Bailey on "Grey's Anatomy," Wilson has earned three Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series as well as a Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series and three NAACP Image Awards.
Wilson has appeared on Broadway in Caroline, or Change; Avenue Q; and On the Town. She also received a Theatre World Award for her performance in Off-Broadway's The Good Times Are Killing Me.
Chicago won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical in 1997 as well as awards for actors Bebe Neuwirth and James Naughton, director Walter Bobbie, lighting designer Ken Billington and choreographer Ann Reinking. The original production was directed and choreographed by the late Bob Fosse.
Chicago plays the Ambassador Theatre, located at 219 West 49th Street.
The long-running musical celebrated its 12th anniversary and its 5,000th performance on Broadway Nov. 14, 2008.
