To commemorate the 40th anniversary staging of Hair – which begins performances at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park July 22 – Theory Icon Project has collaborated with Hair book writer, lyricist and original star James Rado, to assemble a photographic installation of the tribal rock musical in Gansevoort Plaza.

Under the direction of Diane Paulus, Hair recently extended its Central Park run through Aug. 31.

Designing Hair will be Scott Pask (set design), Michael McDonald (costume design), Michael Chybowski (lighting design) and Acme Sound Partners (sound design). Featuring book and lyrics by James Rado and Gerome Ragni and music by Galt MacDermot, Hair made theatre history not only for its rock 'n roll anti-establishment concept, but also for becoming the first Off-Broadway production to make an uptown transfer to Broadway in 1968.
