Marissa Jaret Winokur, after bursting on the Broadway scene as the star of Hairspray, will transfer her talents to TV. Touchstone Television and ABC have signed a one-year talent holding contract with the 29-year old theatre star. Winokur appeared on the New York stage in Grease! and Encores! Hair, but her sweet turn as wanna-be Balitmore dancing queen Tracy Turnblad has made her a Broadway name. Her other credits include TV spots on "Boston Public," "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Felicity" and roles in the films "Never Been Kissed," "Scary Movie" and "American Beauty."

No word yet on what kind of show will be developed for Winokur (ABC currently airs a Tracy-esque show about a plus-size girl trying to get ahead in the media world called "Less Than Perfect"). A firmer deal will be struck when the actress leaves Hairspray.
