News   Hal Landon, Jr. Is Scrooge for 22nd Year at South Coast Rep, Nov. 24-Dec. 24 For 22 years, Hal Landon, Jr. has had the same job every December. He's played Scrooge in A Christmas Carol at South Coast Repertory Theatre.

For 22 years, Hal Landon, Jr. has had the same job every December. He's played Scrooge in A Christmas Carol at South Coast Repertory Theatre. Nov. 24-Dec. 24, he again takes the role of the curmudgeonly miser in the annual mounting. John-David Keller directs the show, adapted from the classic Charles Dickens' Christmas tale by Jerry Patch.

South Coast Repertory founding artist Landon, Jr does more than play Scrooge. Recent credits at the Rep include Much Ado About Nothing, Entertaining Mr. Sloane, The Hollow Lands, Play Strindberg, True West and Tartuffe.

Also in the cast are Julia Coffey (Peter Hall's Measure for Measure, A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Ahmanson), Jonathan del Arco (Broadway's Spoils of War, Torch Song Trilogy) as Young Ebenezar, SCR founding artist Richard Doye (The Beard of Avon) as the Spirit of Christmas Past, SCR founding artist Art Koustik as Mr. Fezziwig, Timothy Landfield (Broadway's Company, The Sound of Music) as the Spirit of Christmas Present, SCR founding artist Martha McFarland as Mrs. Fezziwig, Devon Raymond (her 12th Christmas Carol) as Mrs. Cratchit, Howard Shangraw as Fred, Hisa Takakuwa (her 10th Christmas Carol) as Sally, SCR founding artist Don Took as Marley/the Spirit of Christmas Yet-to-Come and David Whalen as Bob Cratchit.

Designing A Christmas Carol are Cliff Faulkner (sets), Dwight Richard Odle (costumes), Donna and Tom Ruzika (lighting) and Garth Hemphill (sound). Linda Kostalik created the choreography, and Dennis Castellano is the musical director.
