Geoffrey Hassman, who has spent the last three decades created dramatic interiors as the head of an interior design outfit, will see his actual drama, Neil's Garden, fill Off-Broadway's Rattlestick Theatre beginning on Nov. 10. The piece, directed by Rod Kaats, is Hassman's first attempt at playwriting. The story takes a look at a couple on one specific "life-altering" evening.
According to a press statement, Hassman drew on his experience decking residential and office spaces when composing Neil's Garden.
The cast will feature William Bogert and Michael Warren Powell. Director Kaats is also an author, having penned the libretto for the musical The Ballad of Little Jo, which was produced at Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre Company. The show recently won a Jeff Award.
Past Rattlestick productions include Carpool, The Weather Box, Vick's Boy, Ascendency, The Messenger and Saved and Destroyed.
Tickets are $35. Rattlestick is located at 224 Waverly Place in Greenwich Village. For information, call (212) 239-6200. ?By Robert Simonson
