News Hayley Mills Exits Pittsburgh Public's Sanctuary To Pay Respects to Father, Sir John Mills Hayley Mills, starring in the U.S. premiere of Frank McGuinness' The Bird Sanctuary at Pittsburgh Public Theater, finished weekend performances of the play before flying to England for memorial services for her father, the respected actor Sir John Mills.

The famed British actor died April 23 in Denham, west of London, at age 97. According to an April 25 Pittsburgh Public announcement, Hayley Mills "plans to return to the production by the coming weekend."

In the meantime, Mills' understudy, Amy Landis, will play the role of Marianne Henryson opposite Elizabeth Franz, Martin Rayner, Diane Ciesla and David Turner.

The Public is dedicating its production of The Bird Sanctuary in memory of Sir John Mills.

"Pittsburgh Public Theater joins with the entire theater community in mourning the loss of the legendary Sir John Mills," the company announced.
