British stage and screen favorite Hayley Tamaddon will star in a new U.K. tour of the Tony-winning Thoroughly Modern Millie, which will launch March 27, 2018, at the Richmond Theatre.
Tamaddon, known for her roles as Del Dingle in Emmerdale and Andrea Beckett in Coronation Street and for winning the fifth season of ITV1’s Dancing on Ice, will portray Millie Dilmount, the Kansas girl determined to make it big in New York City. Sutton Foster created the role in the original Broadway production, winning her first Tony Award for her performance.
Racky Plews will direct and choreograph with musical direction by Rob Wicks.
Tamaddon's theatre roles include star turns in the U.K. tours of Chicago, Spamalot, The Rocky Horror Show, and Grease, as well as Boyband and Mamma Mia! in the West End.
Winner of six Tony Awards including Best Musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie is based on the 1967 film. The musical has a book by Richard Morris and Dick Scanlan, music by Jeanine Tesori, and lyrics by Scanlan.
The upcoming tour is presented by arrangement with Music Theatre International (Europe) Limited.
