Cast Recordings & Albums ‘He Lives in You’ From The Lion King Musical Featured on Soundtrack for New Movie The album will drop July 11 ahead of the movie’s July 19 arrival in theatres.

The upcoming photorealistic remake of The Lion King will give a nod to the long-running Broadway musical, as confirmed by the inclusion of the song “He Lives in You” on the upcoming soundtrack. The Walt Disney Records album will be released digitally July 11 ahead of a physical drop July 19 (the day the film lands in movie theatres).

The song, written by Lebo M. for his South African vocal choir with Mark Mancina and Jay Rifkin, appears in the stage adaptation twice, including in a climactic Act 2 moment as Rafiki summons Mufasa’s spirit, calling upon Simba to return to Pride Rock to claim his rightful throne.

The new movie (and corresponding soundtrack) will also feature Elton John and Tim Rice’s hits heard in the original animated film and musical, including “Circle of Life,” “Hakuna Matata,” “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” and the Oscar-winning “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” led by stars Beyoncé (voicing Nala) and Donald Glover (as Simba). The album also includes a new song ("Never Too Late") and a yet-to-be-revealed track.

The cast also includes Billy Eichner as Timon, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, James Earl Jones reprising his voice performance as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, John Kani as Rafiki and John Oliver as Zazu.
