Heathers Musical Sets Post-New York Regional Premiere

News   Heathers Musical Sets Post-New York Regional Premiere
The New Line Theatre in St. Louis, MO, has announced plans to produce the regional premiere of the Off-Broadway pop musical Heathers, the Laurence O'Keefe-Kevin Murphy stage adaptation of the 1988 black comedy of the same title.

Tony Award-nominated Legally Blonde composer O'Keefe collaborated with Emmy-winning Reefer Madness author Murphy on book, music and lyrics for the musical that was seen Off-Broadway earlier this year. The production arrived in New York following a sold-out 2013 Los Angeles premiere.

Heathers will be produced at New Line in October 2015. Exact dates of production will be announced at a later date.

Here's how it's billed: "Based on one of the darkest teen comedies ever made, Heathers tells the story of Veronica Sawyer, a brainy teenage misfit who hustles her way into the most powerful and ruthless clique at Westerberg High: The Heathers. But before she can get comfortable atop the high school food chain, Veronica falls in love with the dangerously sexy new kid JD. When Heather Chandler (Heather #1), kicks Veronica out of the group, all hell breaks loose, in one of the funniest and most disturbing comedies in years."
