News Heights' Miranda Set for NYMF "Guitar Hero" Tournament July 14 Lin-Manuel Miranda, the Tony Award-winning co-creator and co-star of In the Heights, will take part in the New York Musical Theatre Festival's "Guitar Hero" tournament July 14.

Miranda will participate in the "Guitar Hero" fundraising tournament that will take place at Stitch Bar and Lounge from 7-10 PM. NYMF director of programming Jess McLeod will serve as emcee for the event.

"Guitar Hero" – the popular video game franchise that allows players to rock out to their favorite tunes thanks to a guitar-shaped video controller – has become a cultural phenomenon with tournaments popping up nationwide.

NYMF states that additional Broadway names are being lined-up for the event that will allow members of the public to compete against their favorite performers.

Tickets for the "Guitar Hero" tournament are $15 for general admission, with game plays offered for $5. Additional ticketing includes $30 Apprentice Player (a free drink and two game plays) and $150 Rock God Player (reserved seating in the VIP section, open bar, access to a private VIP game system, and 1 star game with a participating celebrity).

The fifth-annual New York Musical Theatre Festival will run Sept. 15-Oct. 5. Titles include About Face, Bedbugs!
