The Algonquin's Second International Festival of Cabaret will run in the Oak Room from Sept. 6 to Oct. 16. Two artists comprise the bill. Appearing in repertory are French Baritone Michel Hermon and South African Vocalist Natalie Gamsu. (The Second International Festival of Cabaret dovetails with, but is separate from the Mabel Mercer Cabaret Convention scheduled for early October.)
Hermon will perform his Dietrich show, "Awake in a Dream," and Gamsu will "mine numerous cultures to create an evening dedicated to the poetry of solitude and independence."
Performances begin opening night, Sept. 6, featuring both performers. From there, Hermon and Gamsu perform every Sunday and Monday evening through Oct. 9. There is no show Oct. 15. A final performance featuring both artists takes place on Oct. 16. Hermon and Gamsu switch days each week, alternating between either the Sunday or Monday show.
A $15 minimum applies. Dinner is optional with seating beginning two hours prior to the 9 PM show. The Algonquin's Oak Room is located at 59 W. 44 St. For reservations call (212) 840-6800.
