Directed by Jackson Gay, the 7:30 PM reading features Tony nominee Omar Metwally (Sixteen Wounded), Robert Emmet Lunney (The Graduate) and Eileen DeSandre, as well as Elisa Bocanegra, Eddie Brown, Teddy Cañez, Jose Febus, Kevin Fugaro, Nina Kassa, Tom Kopache, Anya Migdal, Alfredo Narciso, Stephen Park, Kevin Reed, Krystal Rowley and Jerry Stilianessis.
The performance, which is presented with live music, is the third for Hero's Reading Series and its fundraising efforts to present a full-scale production of Anton Chekhov’s Three Sisters.
Hero Theatre, founded in March 2011, presents classics and new works inspired by the classics using a multi-ethnic ensemble of actors.
Academy Award winner Olympia Dukakis is head of Hero Theatre's advisory board. Other members include Michael Ritchie (artistic director of the Center Theatre Group), Jenny Gersten (artistic director of the Williamstown Theatre Festival), Bill Rauch (artistic director of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival), director Michael Wilson, actor Michael Cumpsty, playwright Migdalia Cruz, Russian writer Tatyana Tolstaya and Judy Bowman of Judy Bowman Casting.
