If your name is Dave Gorman, there's a guy in New York who wants to meet you.

His name is also Dave Gorman, and he's put together a one-man show about other Dave Gormans called Are You Dave Gorman? It's been playing at the Westbeth Theatre Center since Sept. 26 and officially opened there Nov. 3. The show was supposed to end Nov. 3, but ticket sales warranted an extension through Nov. 24, which has now been extended again, through (at least) Dec. 15, according to a box office spokesperson.

The comedy was born when Gorman and his London flatmate were — no surprise — drinking. They heard a rumor that the assistant manager of a Scotland football club was also named Dave Gorman and the next morning hopped a train and went to meet him. They've been looking for Dave Gormans all over the world ever since.

The show, about Gorman's experiences meeting other same-named people, was a hit at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and moved to London's West End. It's also been performed at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen.

The theatre is at 151 Bank St., NYC. Tickets are $25 to $40. For information and tickets, call the box office at (212) 741-0391 or Ticketmaster (212) 307-4100. — By Diane Snyder and David Lefkowitz
