Tilted Windmills Theatricals presents the Off-Broadway transfer of the hit comedy Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic beginning September 29 at the Elektra Theater. The Harry Potter parody was previously seen at the People’s Improv Theatre, where it played a sold-out run December 2015-August 2016.
The comedy, which officially opens October 20, follows the lives of the wizard classmates who, unlike Harry and his friends, weren't in the limelight. The play is written by Matt Cox, directed by Kristin McCarthy Parker and originally produced by Stephen Stout and Colin Waitt.
The cast features Langston Belton, Madeleine Bundy, Jessie Cannizzaro, Nick Carillo, A.J. Ditty, Julie Ann Earls, James Fouhey, Andy Miller, Zac Moon, Eleanor Philips and Stout.
“Some people are born to change the world. Some people are born with the capacity to do great things. Some people are born to rise from humble beginnings to beat back the forces of darkness in the face of insurmountable odds,” state show notes. “[Puffs] is the story of the people who sit in class next to those people.”
The production features production design by Liz Blessing and Madeleine Bundy, lighting design by Michelle Kelleher, costume design by Madeleine Bundy, sound design by Matt Cox and original music by Brian Hoes.
