Broadway's Dreamgirl Jennifer Holliday will play host to Town Hall's "21 Below!," March 1. Subtitled "The World's Best Tap Dancers Aged 21 and Under," the showcase will play one night only at the midtown Manhattan venue. Featuring hoofers ranging as low as 4-years-old to 21, the show will comprise two acts highlighted with two performances by Holliday. Duke Ellington's "Come Sunday" and Fats Waller's "Honeysuckle Rose" will be performed with dances by Michela Lerman and Jason Samuels-Smith with Cartier Williams respectively.
The rest of the company includes Devin Arroyo, Shakir Torbert, Hannah Leah Dunn, Frankie Clemente, Dustin Conley, Robyn Watson, Mario "Izzy" Medina, Shim Sham and The Young Hoofers.The production will also feature musical selections by the Frank Owens Trio.
Holliday won the 1982 Tony Award for Best Actress for her turn in Dreamgirls. She also starred in Your Arms Too Short to Box With God, the film "The Rising Place" and recently appeared on television's "Ally McBeal."
