Rosario Dawson earned Best Actress in a Motion Picture for "Seven Pounds," while "The Secret Life of Bees," starring Jennifer Hudson, earned awards for Best Motion Picture and Best Directing in a Motion Picture (Gina Prince-Bythewood).

Television honors went to Chandra Wilson (Best Actress in a Drama Series for "Grey's Anatomy"), Taye Diggs (Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for "Private Practice") and Angela Bassett (Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for "ER").

The made-for-television "A Raisin in the Sun" took Best Television Movie, Miniseries or Dramatic Special, and earned honors for Sean Combs (Best Actor in a Television Movie) and Phylicia Rashad (Best Actress in a Television Movie).

On the music front, Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson earned Best New Artist, Best Duo with Fantasia on "I'm His Only Woman" and Best Album for her self-titled album. Hudson's "Dreamgirls" Jaime Foxx and Beyonce, won awards for, respectively, Best Male Artist and Best Female Artist.
