Women@Work, half a dozen one acts on the subject of working women by playwright Arlene Hutton (Last Train to Nibroc), completes its month-long run at the Vital Theatre June 30. Women@Work opened June 11. Sharon Fallon (Race Music, The Woodsman) directs.
Women@Work features a variety of female employees and employers. In Vero Beach, a boutique manager observes the mistress of her soon-to-be ex-husband shopping for clothes. In A Closer Look, a talk show hostess realizes she is the only one in the studio telling the truth. Two women fight over a house in House Play, while two others struggle over a door buzzer in Pushing Buttons. Corporate downsizing and an eye chart as a metaphor for life are the subjects of Cafeteria and Within the Mind's Eye.
Starring in Women@Work are The Best Man's Carol Halstead, Melissa Rayworth, Lynne Halliday, Veronica M. Kehoe and Irene McDonnell.
Tickets are $15. The Vital Theatre Company is located at 432 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues. For reservations, call (212) 592 0129.
