International News Ian McKellen On Stage Will Play West End This Fall The international stage and screen star is currently touring to 80 venues across the U.K.

International stage and screen star Sir Ian McKellen, who is celebrating his 80th birthday by touring to theatres throughout the U.K. with his one-man theatrical event, Ian McKellen On Stage, will bring the production to the West End this fall.

McKellen launched the tour in January, visiting theatres large and small, many that hold personal connections, including amateur groups he knew as a child and notable playhouses he has played in as a professional actor over the last half-century.

West End performances will begin September 20 at the Harold Pinter Theatre. Performances are scheduled through January 5, 2020. The production will set aside 80 tickets at each performance for the price of £10. Sean Mathias directs.

All profits from the sold-out tour, and upcoming West End run, benefit U.K. theatre charities.

The veteran actor and LGBT activist is also the subject of the new documentary film McKellen: Playing The Part, which premiered last year.
