Edwin Sanchez' new play Icarus, originally launched at the 1997 Humana Festival at the Actors Theatre of Louisville, alights on Earth for its April 24 premiere at the San Jose Repertory Theatre in San Jose, CA. The play, a tale of "impossible love and the changing face of beauty," tells of Altagracia, a woman determined to become the most famous and beloved swimmer in history. Melia Bensussen, who staged the work in Louisville, directs. Denise Casano stars in the lead. Also in the cast are Sean San Jose, Douglas Markkanen, Lorri Holt, and Daniel Travis.
