News   In the Air Premieres Off-Broadway at Theatre 315 The world premiere of Paul Enger's new drama In the Air will begin previews at the Off-Broadway Theatre 315 on Oct. 12.

      Directed and produced by Tom Ferriter, the play will officially open on Oct 20. The cast features Jeanine Bartel as Ellen, Nisi Sturgis as Clara, Preston Dane as Ben, and Celia Howard as Mrs. Ames.

  In the Air is a story about two sisters and a pioneering aviator who experience first love while confronting the Great Flu Epidemic of 1918.  The incurable epidemic claimed the lives of 700,000 Americans and more than 21 million people worldwide.  According to production notes, "Enger's drama explores the epidemic's devastating effects on the young and is a metaphor for the incurable diseases of our time."

  Stageplays Theatre Company is a not-for-profit company formed in 1992 to develop and produce new American plays which address important issues in today's society.  Stageplays has presented full productions of four new plays, as well as one new musical. 

  Playwright Paul Enger has written eight plays including The Good News (Stage West), The Devil His Due (St. Peter's Theatre), and Harmon and Ruth (Carefree). Tom Ferriter has produced and directed the premieres of First Wife (Emelin Theatre), Enchanted Afternoon, Twisters (Nat Horne), Perpetrator (Singers Forum), and Reunion at Red Fork (Marilyn Monroe Little Theatre).

  Theatre 315 is located at 315 West 47th Street.
