Broadway News Ingrid Michaelson Shares Video of First Lead Role Ahead of Her Broadway Debut The singer-songwriter steps into The Great Comet beginning July 3.

Prior to making her Broadway debut as Sonya in Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, multi-platinum recording artist Ingrid Michaelson has shared with her fans a glimpse of her musical theatre past: a middle school production of The Music Man.

Take a look below at an eighth-grade Michaelson’s performance as Marian Paroo as she sings the ballad “Goodnight My Someone.”

Michaelson will temporarily step into the role of Sonya beginning July 3, taking over as original cast member Brittain Ashford takes a leave of absence through August 15. (Michaelson will not perform August 2–6).

Also beginning July 3 at the Imperial Theatre is Okieriete “Oak” Onaodowan, who assumes the title role of Pierre from Tony nominee Josh Groban. The two join a cast that currently features Tony nominee Denée Benton as Natasha, Nicholas Belton as Andrey and Bolkonsky, Nick Choksi as Dolokhov, Amber Gray as Hélène, Grace McLean as Marya D, and Tony nominee Lucas Steele as Anatole.
