News Intiman Theatre to Stage New Musical Stu for Silverton by NYC-Based Performer Breedlove Stu for Silverton, a new musical by singer-songwriter Breedlove, will premiere next summer as part of the Intiman Theatre's four-play season in Seattle.

Breedlove, who has released the pop singles "I Never Had," "New York City Rooftop," and, most recently, "I Love New York," penned music and lyrics for Stu for Silverton, which focuses on the true story of Stu Rasmussen, America's first transgender mayor. It has a book by Peter Duchan and will be directed by Intiman artistic director Andrew Russell.

It is billed as "a new musical about the mayor of Silverton, Oregon – the unlikely and surprising story of America's first transgender mayor and his community." Russell described it as Our Town meets Rocky Horror.

Russell was elemental in resurrecting the Intiman last year after the theatre company shuttered due to financial struggles. Read Playbill.com's account here.

The Intiman returned in summer 2012 with a streamlined, four-play summer festival that welcomed Seattle audiences back to the Tony Award-winning regional company. The 2013 summer programming will also follow the four-play model.

Also planned is Alice Childress' Trouble In Mind, a "groundbreaking comedy-drama of race and representation in the American theatre," directed by Valerie Curtis-Newton; Aristophanes' Lysistrata, staged by Sheila Daniels; and Dario Fo's We Won't Pay! We Won't Pay!, a farce about money, class and the human spirit, directed by Jane Nichols. Visit Intiman.org.
