News Jackman Standby Spirtas to Release Solo CD with Oz Songs Kevin Spirtas, the "Days of Our Lives" star who was the standby for Hugh Jackman in The Boy from Oz, will release a new solo recording next month.

"Kevin Spirtas—Night and Days," which was recorded live at the El Portal Theatre, is set to hit stores on The Kritzerland label April 10. Pre-orders for the new CD will be available beginning March 12 at www.kritzerland.com. Spirtas, who never had the opportunity to go on for Jackman in Oz, finally gets the chance to interpret several Peter Allen tunes on his solo recording, including "Everything Old Is New Again," "Not the Boy Next Door," "Rio" and "Once Before I Go." Among the other song titles on the single CD are "Night and Day," "I've Never Been in Love Before," "Sometimes a Day Goes By," "Somewhere," "I Can Do That," "All I Care About Is Love."

Kevin Spirtas is currently appearing in the Las Vegas production of Hairspray. His Broadway credits include The Boy From Oz, A Chorus Line and Meet Me in St. Louis. Spirtas played Dr. Craig Wesley on "Days of Our Lives" from 1998-2003, and his other screen credits include "Friends," "L.A. Heat," "Daredevil," "Apt Pupil," "Embrace the Darkness," "Striking Resemblance," "Green Plaid Shirt" and "Friday the 13th VII."
