Asolo Rep Extras is a special series of one or two performances of shows and concerts.

Barbour (Beauty and the Beast, Assassins) was a favorite of Sarasota audiences when he appeared in the pre-Broadway run of A Tale of Two Cities at Asolo Rep. He would later sell out solo concerts there. He returns for a holiday concert Dec. 21-22 at 8 PM in the Mertz Theatre.

Also coming in the season are A Tale of Two Cities producers Barbra Russell and Ron Sharpe, who were Les Miz stars before they were producers, in a special Valentine's Day concert called Broadway Love Songs, in the Mertz Theatre.

The series also includes:

Dec. 28-29, 5 & 8 PM
One Man Star Wars featuring Charles Ross
Historic Asolo Theater

"Writer-performer Charles Ross spent much of his childhood (and adulthood) in a galaxy far, far away. This high-energy, 75-minute piece takes you on a theatrical adventure at warp speed through the 'Star Wars' trilogy, all performed by one man. Using body, voice and movement, Charles Ross plays all the characters, recreates the effects and music, flies the ships and fights both sides of the battles. It’s a thoroughly entertaining cosmic experience." April 17-18, 2011, 4 and 8 PM
The Second City's Fair and Unbalanced
The Mertz Theatre

"Fair & Unbalanced takes unbridled comic pleasure in the foibles of our politicians, celebrities and even our significant others. No institution escapes the satiric eye of The Second City — from the blowhards of the Beltway to the Hollywood elite. Ripped from the stages of Second City's legendary theatres in Chicago and Toronto, Fair & Unbalanced is a riotous ride through present day America."

May 8, 2011, 6:30 and 9:30 PM
John Epperson as Lypsinka as Joan Crawford in The Passion of the Crawford
By John Epperson
Directed by Kevin Malony
The Mertz Theatre

"Utilizing almost entirely recorded sound bytes made with the participation of Joan Crawford, The Passion of the Crawford is not merely a Joan Crawford impersonation, but a fantasia on the persona of Miss Crawford. Lypsinka (the female brainchild of actor/writer John Epperson) and a guest actor reproduce interviews and speeches given by Crawford, in a humorous performance about the refraction of celebrity and the addiction to fame."
