News Jane Adams Joins Broadway's Enchanted April July 8 Tony Award winner Jane Adams will assume the role of Rose Arnott in the Broadway staging of Matthew Barber's Enchanted April July 8.

Adams won the Best Featured Actress Tony for her turn in the 1994 revival of An Inspector Calls. The actress, who did a stint as fiance to David Hyde Pierce's Niles Crane on "Frasier," also starred on Broadway in I Hate Hamlet and The Crucible and in regional stagings of The Glass Menagerie and Camino Real.

The role originated on Broadway by Molly Ringwald (Cabaret, tick, tick...BOOM!) is currently played by Isabel Keating as the expecting Ringwald left the show June 15. Understudy Keating — who starred in the world premiere of the work at The Hartford Stage Company — will soon begin rehearsals for her role as Judy Garland in the upcoming Broadway musical The Boy From Oz.

The Matthew Barber play about Englishwomen transformed by a vacation in Italy began its run at the Belasco Theatre on April 8. The cast of Enchanted April includes Jayne Atkinson, Elizabeth Ashley, Michael Hayden, Michael Cumpsty, Patricia Conolly, Dagmara Dominczyk and Daniel Gerroll. Hartford Stage artistic director Michael Wilson directed the work.
