"American Idol," the singing competition that is often a steppingstone to the Broadway stage, will kickoff its new season on Fox Jan. 22, 2012, at 10 PM ET.

Singer-actress Jennifer Lopez, rock legend Steven Tyler and Grammy Award-winning producer Randy Jackson will return to the judges' panel for the 11th season along with Emmy-nominated host Ryan Seacrest.

"Having both Jennifer and Steven return to 'Idol' in 2012 alongside Randy is such a positive reflection on what was a wonderful and hugely successful season last year, and everyone is delighted," said Simon Fuller, the show's creator and executive producer, in a statement.

"American Idol" continues its search for the best undiscovered talent in the country with auditions in Houston, TX, Aug. 26.

Among the many "American Idol" finalists and/or winners who have appeared on Broadway are Fantasia, Justin Guarini, Jordin Sparks, Diana DeGarmo, Ace Young, Tamyra Gray, Constantine Maroulis, Frenchie Davis, Clay Aiken and Taylor Hicks.
