"A couple years ago John Gallagher, Jr. auditioned for me for a role," reads Gunn's social media comment. "He didn't get the role that day - he wasn't right for the part - but when he walked out of the room I turned to the casting director and said, 'That's one of the best actors I've seen in my life, and perhaps the best audition I've ever seen.' I became determined to find a way to work with him...I'm proud to announce that day is today, as John will play Mike Pelk, one of the leads of our film." With a screenplay by Gunn, the film will be helmed by "Wolf Creek" director Greg McLean and will tell the story of a group of American expats in South America who are caught up in a dangerous experiment on morality.
Gallagher's Broadway credits include Jerusalem, American Idiot and Rabbit Hole. He received critical acclaim for his performance in the Indie hit film "Short Term 12" and is also known for his ongoing role in TV series "The Newsroom."
