The pilot — from "Everybody Loves Raymond" creator Phil Rosenthal; Winkler's son, director Max Winkler; and Winkler's son-in-law, actor Rob Reinis — is based on Henry Winkler's relationship with his son-in-law.

"The Winklers," produced by 20th TV, centers on Jack (Domenick Lombardozzi), an emotionally reserved construction worker who lives with his in-laws, actor Henry (Winkler) and Tita Winkler (Light).

Light received Tony Awards for her performances in The Assembled Parties and Other Desert Cities and is a Tony nominee for Lombardi. Her other Broadway credits include A Doll's House and Herzl.

Winkler, best known for his work on "Happy Days," has been seen on Broadway in 42 Seconds from Broadway, The Dinner Party and The Performers.
