Michael Hackett directs the production, which will run through Jan. 16. All LATW productions are recorded and broadcast on LATW's nationally syndicated radio theatre series, "The Play's the Thing."
The cast features Sands as Joseph Surface, Carr as Mrs. Candour, Sullivan as Lady Sneerwell and Tara Summers as Lady Teazle. Also appearing are Stuart Bunce, John Francis Harries, Henri Lubatti, Christopher Neame, Moira Quirk, Simon Templeman, James Warwick and Matthew Wolf.
According to LATW, "The School For Scandal is a delightful, madcap and maliciously catty romp. Centuries before Jerry Springer, Ricki Lake and the National Enquirer appeared on the scene, Sheridan gave us such gossip-mongers as Lady Sneerwell, Widow Snake, Lady Candour and Benjamin Backbite in a comic story filled with complications, ironies, surprises and schemes that go horribly wrong - a prototype of situation comedy that reveals many of the same guilty pleasures and petty obsessions we know today. After all, slander and gossip never go out of style!"
For tickets to any of "The Play's the Thing" productions at the Skirball Cultural Center, 2701 N. Sepulveda Boulevard, call the L.A. Theatre Works box office at (310) 827-0889.
