News Katie Holmes Will Join Meryl Steep and Jeff Bridges in "The Giver" Film Katie Holmes, who was last seen on Broadway in Theresa Rebeck's Dead Accounts, will join Oscar winner Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges in "The Giver," according to the Hollywood Reporter.

"The Giver," an adaptation of the Lois Lowry novel to be directed by Phil Noyce, is penned by Michael Mitnick.

Brenton Thwaites will star in the film, a co-production between The Weinstein Company and Walden Media, which is scheduled to shoot in South Africa.

Thwaites will play a young boy who is selected for his life service as the Receiver of Memories and works with The Giver (Bridges). Streep will play the society's Chief Elder, and Holmes will play Thwaites' mother.

Holmes has also been seen on Broadway in All My Sons.
