Elderly women who murder, and one (possibly) murdered elderly lady are on the bill for the Alley Theatre's Summer Chills season, filling the Houston, TX venue from June 30-Aug. 6.
Joseph Kesselring's classic comedy Arsenic and Old Lace takes the stage first, June 30-July 16. In Arsenic, the spinster Brewster sisters and their nephew Teddy (convinced he is the former President Roosevelt who bares his name) play host to nephew Mortimer Brewster, who is shocked to discover his aunt's plans to seduce and kill off lonely old men.
At the death of Lady Tressilian, a group of friends and family gather together to divide up her estate. This event sets off Christie's rarely produced Towards Zero, where a failed suicide attempt, an accusation of theft, and the love life of a famed tennis player complicate the woman's death. Towards Zero runs July 21-Aug. 6.
Tickets to all Summer Chills productions are $17. The Alley Theatre is located at 615 Texas Avenue. For reservations, call (713) 228-8421. The Alley Theatre is on the web at http://www.alleytheatre.com.
