As previously reported, the beloved downtown song-and-booze cabaret act will again hit the famed stage for a one-night-only concert. (The duo made their Carnegie Hall debut in 2004 in an evening titled Kiki & Herb Will Die For You.)
David J. Foster, Jared Geller, Paris Bar and Phil Ciasullo Conard will produce the 8 PM event, which will play the venue's largest hall, the Isaac Stern Auditorium/Ronald O. Perelman Stage.
"Sometimes you have to go through hell to get to heaven," said Kiki in a press announcement. "So with that in mind Kiki & Herb will embark on a night of darkness and pagan drama, taking the audience on a musical odyssey from Sinnermen to Sainted Sweethearts with songs by The Tiger Lillies, Kanye West, Nina Simone, Emmylou Harris, and many more. They will also deliver their own twisted take on traditional Christmas fare."
Tickets to Kiki & Herb: The Second Coming—A Christmas Concert at Carnegie Hall, 154 West 57th Street, are available by calling (212) 247-7800 or by visiting www.carnegiehall.org. For more information, go to KikiAndHerb.com.
* Following their Off-Broadway run in Coup de Theatre, Kiki & Herb took to the stage of Carnegie Hall for a special one-night "farewell performance." That Sept. 19, 2004, performance was recorded and released on the Evolver label. They have since played a national tour, Broadway and Joe's Pub, among other venues.
Justin Bond and Kenny Mellman created Kiki & Herb in 1992 and have been embodying their respective alter-egos ever since in various shows. The infamous twosome make their way through a number of songs, occasionally taking the off ramp into the brash and boozy bio of the "septuagenarian" (as her press release states) Kiki. As she "drags" us through those unforgettable moments, her shy straight man accompanist Herb tickles the ivories. Previous works include Jesus Wept and There's a Stranger in the Manger!
