Tony-winning Broadway musical Kinky Boots kicks off its Australian premiere October 12 at Her Majesty's Theatre in Melbourne. Callum Francis, who understudied Lola on the West End, returns to the production as the high-heeled star for the Australian debut; he is joined by actor Toby Francis as Charlie.
Performances are scheduled to play through December 11. Sophie Wright stars as Lauren; Teagan Wouters as Nicola and Nathan Carter as George.
With direction and choreography by two-time Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell, Kinky Boots is the winner of six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Score and Best Choreography. The show brings together four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein (book) and Grammy Award-winning rock icon Cyndi Lauper (Tony Award winner for Best Score).
The ensemble cast for the Melbourne production is made up of Blake Appelqvist, Glenn Butcher, Hilary Cole, Jessica Condon, Denise Devlin, Euan Doidge, Daniel Downing, Bronte Florian, Linden Furnell, Ryan Gonzalez, Samm Hagen, Anthony Harkin, Joe Kosky, Jenni Little, Liam Peel, Emma Powell, Matthew Predny, EricRasmussen, Mark Stefanoff and Mitchell Woodcock.
