Joe Calarco (The Burnt Part Boys, The Mysteries of Harris Burdick) directs the Musical Theatre Lab reading of the work that has music by Zachary Redler, with book and lyrics by Sara Cooper. Vadim Feichtner serves as musical director for the two readings. Drama Desk winner Cox (Footloose!, Baby, Oh Coward) and Kritzer (Rooms, A Catered Affair, Legally Blonde) star as mother and daughter in the new musical that is described as "a two-person comic tragedy about the troubled relationship of a woman who has just been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and her estranged daughter who moves back home to Brighton Beach to take care of her."
"Funny and heartbreaking. Moving in many unimaginable ways. This is a story of a mother and daughter trying gamely to hold on to what they remember of each other. It's amazing how painful hilarious can be," said BSC Musical Theatre Lab curator William Finn in a statement.
