The Mark Taper Forum winds up its 30th anniversary season with the Los Angeles premiere of award-winning playwright Leslie Ayvazian’s Nine Armenians. Previews begin July 13, and the production opens July 24.

Nine Armenians is the heartwarming story of three generations of an Armenian-American family. Although the interaction amongst family members is comical and loving, they are haunted with memories of the genocide of the Armenian people by the Turks during WWI.

Following a successful run from November 1996 to January of this year at New York’s Manhattan Theatre Club, Nine Armenians opens on the West Coast with a new cast, including Ayvazian herself in the role of Aunt Louise. The production will be directed by Mark Taper Forum’s artistic director, Gordon Davidson.

Nine Armenians won a Roger L. Stevens Award. It runs through August 31 at the

Mark Taper Forum . For tickets or more information, call (213) 628-2778, or refer to the regional listings on Playbill On-Line.
