News   La Jolla Playhouse Sets Cast for David Grimm's Sheridan, July 18-Aug. 20 La Jolla Playhouse has announced the cast and creative team for the world premiere of David Grimm's Sheridan Or, Schooled in Scandal, which begins previews July 18 and opens July 23 for a one-month run, through Aug. 20. The play, set in the decadent London world of mad King George III, is a darkly comic portrait of one of the greatest playwrights of all time, Richard Brinsley Sheridan, author of the comic masterpieces, The Rivals (1775) and The School for Scandal (1777).

Mark Brokaw will direct the play. Brokaw's cast includes (in alphabetical order) Christopher Burris, Maria Dizzia, Bairbre Dowling, Francesca Faridany, Sherman Howard (as Sheridan), Charles Janasz, Trey Lyford, Robert Machray, Ray Reinhardt, Jeremy Shamos, Sandra Shipley and Alison Weller.

The design team includes set designer Mark Wendland, costume designer Annie Smart, lighting designer Mark McCullough, John Gromada as sound designer and Wayne Kohanek as fight director.
