LAGUNA BEACH, CA -- Last chance to catch the world premiere of The Boise Club,, a comedy by Bernard Baldan, at the Laguna Playhouse in Laguna Beach, CA. The show began previews Jan. 6, opened Jan. 8 and runs to Feb. 1.
The story is about two lifelong friends going through mid-life crises. They start a self-help club for other men dealing with the same problem.
Baldan, a founding member of San Diego Rep, stars in his own play, alongside Randy Kovitz and Darrell Sandeen. Designing the show are Michael Buckley (set), Paulie Jenkins (lighting), David Edwards (sound) and Dione Lebhar (costumes).
Next up: The West Coast premiere of Inside Out, a musical comedy about an energetic, caring counselor and the five exceptional women who meet with her in group therapy, set to open Mar. 5. The Laguna Playhouse was founded in 1920 and attracts 75,000 theatregoers annually, according to executive director Richard Stein. The theatre made the transition from amateur to professional status five years ago. With a $2.2 million budget, the Playhouse also sponsors a youth theatre program that plays to 20,000 each year.
