Men, the newest musical collaboration by I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change authors Joe DiPietro and Jimmy Roberts, ends performances July 25 at Sacramento's B Street Theatre. Performances began June 9 with an opening June 13.
A romantic comedy, Men looks at the troubled marriage of Tom and Lucy. The couple fight infidelity with infidelity until Tom, in order to end his wife's affair, assumes a fictional identity and moves in with Lucy's lover. Men is based on the German film of the same title.
DiPietro (book and lyrics) and Roberts (music) are best known for their long-running Off-Broadway musical revue of heterosexuals in love, I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change. DiPietro's work also includes Over the River and Through the Woods and his first piece with the B Street, 1994's The Virgin Weeps.
Joel Bishoff, who has staged Perfect/Change, River/Woods and Virgin Weeps directs. Included in the cast are Los Angeles actors William Haller, Cynthia Ferrer, James Horan, Melissa Papp and Larry Raben.
