Frank Bogues promises Nebraska charm, Irish wit and New York attitude in his new show, A Bogus Christmas Story , which plays the Duplex Cabaret Theatre through Dec. 23. Performances began Dec. 2. In Bogus , Bogues attempts to travel back to the Christmas of his eighth year, in 1973 Nebraska. In the monologue, he dissects his profane Irish father, 12-year-old bully Billy Jacobson, the competition for the title of "Sledding Jesus," and his pursuit of a red-ruddered American Flyer. Sharing the stage will be Bogues' band, The Not Ready for Christmas Players, who will provides guitar-riff accents to the story, as well as pre- and post-show Christmas carols. Karen Zechowy directs.
