Gorilla Repertory Theatre, the New York troupe best known for its annual open-air rendition of A Midsummer Night's Dream in Washington Square Park, will conclude its staging of the Bard's Henry IV, Parts I and II, held in the Lower East Side's Henry Street Settlement, on Sept. 20. Part I plays on Saturday; Part II plays on Friday and Sunday. All shows begin at 7 PM and are free to the public.
Gorilla regular Mark Greenfield will direct the Shakespeare histories. The kinetic production's battle scenes will feature baseball bats instead of swords and garbage cans lids in place of shields.
Greenfield's Gorilla credits include Midsummer and Faust -- The New Musical Comedy. He is also artistic director of the Faux-Real theatre company.
The Settlement is located at 466 Grand St. For information, call (212) 353-6988.
