Passover may be over, but the phrase "Next Year In Jerusalem" continues to resonate in New York, as Off-Off-Broadway's Theatre Asylum finishes its brief run of Dana Leslie Goldstein's comedy/drama of the same title.

Goldstein was recently appointed a playwright-in-residence at Theatre Asylum, a new company headed by artistic director Len Duckman (who directs Jerusalem). The company previously mounted Barbara Lhota & Ira Brodsky's Green Skin at the Producers Club in October 1997.

Next Year In Jerusalem does, indeed, have a Passover sequence but also follows a Jewish family from 1939 Poland through 1941 Palestine/Israel to 1960 Brooklyn, NY. Starring in the play are Lee Beltzer, Martha Kayte, Tara Sands, Catherine Dowling, Cocteau Repertory veteran Joseph J. Menino, Maryellen Rowlett and Darius Kashani. Designing the show are Linda Ross (lighting & costumes) and Jennifer Varbalow (set).

Author Goldstein developed the play in a staged reading at Theatre Asylum and is currently working on another full-length play, Daughters of the Sexual Revolution.
