Latest Ham4Ham Video Showcases Poet Sarah Kay | Playbill

News Latest Ham4Ham Video Showcases Poet Sarah Kay Ham4Ham, the impromptu performances that happen periodically on the front steps of the Richard Rodgers Theatre, where Hamilton is playing, featured a guest poet, Sarah Kay, to entertain people standing on line for the show's discount ticket lottery Nov. 7.

Kay was introduced by Hamilton creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda over the sound of Manhattan ambulance sirens and a bus that swerved a little too close to the audience. Kay explained that she has been a friend of Miranda's since they were 16. She then performed an original poem based on a line from the poem "Detail of the Woods" by Richard Siken: "Everyone needs a place. It shouldn't be inside someone else."

Kay didn't share the name of her poem, which was about women's choices and perceptions.

The clip was recorded by Howard Sherman.
