News   Latin Legend Comes to the Stage in Zorro in Hell World Premiere, Starts in CA March 17
The legendary Latin hero rides again as comic trio Culture Clash teams with director Tony Taccone to present the world premiere of Zorro in Hell at Berkeley Repertory Theatre.

Taccone (Bridge & Tunnel) stages the new work, a co-production with Zorro Productions, Inc. and La Jolla Playhouse, at his company's Roda Theatre, March 17 April 16. (The work then plays at the latter venue, Sept. 30-Oct. 29.)

Written and performed by the performance troupe of Richard Montoya, Ric Salinas, and Herbert Siguenza (Culture Clash in AmeriCCa), Zorro in Hell offers their "Latin look behind the mask of this mainstream icon" as he "rides out of the pages of pulp fiction, through the Hollywood image machine and beyond the barriers of class, race and ethnicity to become a hero for the oppressed in every land," as production notes reveal.

The cast also features Joseph Kamal (Charles Mee's Fêtes de la Nuit), Sharon Lockwood (The Alchemist) and Vincent Montoya (The Birds).

The design team includes Christopher Acebo (scenic), Christal Weatherly (costume), Alexander V. Nichols (lighting) and Robbin E. Broad (sound). The stage manager is Kimberly Mark Webb.

The Berekley Rep season continue with The Glass Menagerie (April 6-June 4) starring Rita Moreno (Master Class) as Amanda and the Theatre de la Jeune Lune production of The Miser (May 12-June 25).
