News Lavin, Gets, Bucchino and Broadway Tenors Join Broadway for a New America Benefit Tony-winning actress Linda Lavin and Tony nominee Malcolm Gets will be part of the upcoming benefit Broadway for a New America: Standing Up for Marriage Equality and a Progressive Agenda for Change April 13 at Symphony Space.

Tony-winning actor Jim Dale will host the 7 PM evening that benefits Jewish Alliance for Change. Sara Louise Lazarus directs the concert, which has musical direction by Lawrence Yurman. Kati Meister and Scott Denny are the producers.

In addition to Lavin and Gets, A Catered Affair composer John Bucchino and the Broadway Tenors (Brian Lane Green, Kevin Spirtas and Matt Farnsworth) have been newly announced to participate.

Previously announced to appear are Richard Belzer, Billy Stritch, Tovah Feldshuh, Ann Hampton Callaway, Mike Burstyn, Judy Kaye, David Green, Phyllis Newman, Seth Rudetsky, Melissa Errico, Nellie McKay, Anne Meara, Alice Playten, Peter Jöback, the Broadway Boys, the New York City Gay Men's Chorus and the Accidentals.

Speakers for the event include Evan Wolfson, founder and director of Freedom to Marry; Steven Goldstein, chair of Garden State Equality; Ron Zacchi, executive director of Marriage Equality New York; Wayne Besen, founder and executive director of Truth Wins Out; and Rabbis J. Rolando Matalon and Marcelo Bronstein of Congregation B'nai Jeshurun, New York City.

The Jewish Alliance for Change, according to press notes, "plans to build on its achievements and mobilize the American public to fight for marriage equality and the realization of a progressive agenda for change. The benefit proceeds will go to The Jewish Alliance for Change for the continuation of its good work in support of important progressive issues."
